Dealing with the Stress of Divorce - Finding Solace in Food or Forgetting to Eat?

How do you deal with stress in your life? All too often we find solace in food. Food is our comfort when things are not going our way. Some of your stressors may be work, family and finances – which unquestionably are major stressors in one’s life but if you ask anyone who is going through a divorce I bet they will say that nothing compares to the level of stress one experiences during a divorce. Your whole world is thrown out of whack and if you are prone to finding comfort in food anyway – a divorce may really push you over the edge. Before you know it you have gained an additional 10 or 15 pounds.

On the opposite end of the spectrum – many of us get so stressed out we are unable to eat and before we know it we have lost a ton of weight and are feeling moody and run down all the time – becoming way more susceptible to getting sick. Who needs the added stress of an illness on top of the stress of a divorce, right?

Regardless of how you deal with the stressors of divorce, I am sure you will agree that there is nothing more important than your health – physical and mental – and the way to preserving both is to be sure you are eating right. If you aren’t sure what that looks like then tune September 17, 2007 for the 6 Simple Steps to Guilt Free Eating Teleclass – presented by Gillian Hood-Gabrielson and start gaining the tools you need so you can maintain your physical and emotional well being during your divorce recovery.
