Are your Kids Hearing you?
How do you feel when you talk to your kids? Is it easy or difficult? Do you think they hear what you are saying? Or do you feel like you are talking to yourself?
I think it is fair to say that all parents struggle at some time or another with effectively communicating with their kids, under normal circumstances. Throw in an emotionally charged situation such as a divorce and see how communication between you and your kids can take a turn for the worst – especially if you don’t have the tools you need to communicate effectively.
Communication is the key to any successful relationship. Unfortunately, all too often we don’t know how to communicate effectively. Without the right tools – communication can be difficult and can spiral out of control when we are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, angry or frightened such as during a divorce. Don’t allow ineffective communication skills to ruin your relationship with your children.
If you are struggling with talking to your kids and feel like you are butting heads more often than not – then gain the tools you need to effectively communicate with your kids and get some small relief – for you and your kids - during this stressful time.
Aurelia Williams the Parenting Coach and owner of Parenting My Teen Podcast will share her tools and techniques for communicating effectively with your kids. Learn how to start talking in the same language so you can find some middle ground in what can be the sometimes chaotic life of a parent.
