I often wonder if “Hello” were a four letter word would it be used more often. Recently, I have been struck by the number of people who blatantly ignore me when I say hello to them. Do you ever have this happen to you? The basic greeting of hello has been instilled in me since childhood and I have done the same for my daughter. So it is just natural, almost automatic in fact, that when I see someone walking past me I immediately smile and say “hello”. And if the encounter is more than just passing them on the street I will also ask “how are you doing today”. I would have to say that the number of times I get a response is probably 50-50.
So the question comes to my mind - why do so many people ignore or rebuff my friendly exchange? I mean after all it takes but a second if that to form the letters on our tongue and have them leave our mouth. Are we all really that busy that we can’t give each other a few seconds a day? Or is it something more than lack of time?
What could be holding these people back from acknowledging the simple greeting - hello? Are you guilty of not responding? If so why?
If it is not time - then is it fear? Are we that fearful of interacting with strangers? If so, what is it that we are afraid of? Are we afraid of the person that we are coming in contact with - is it possible that we see every stranger as villainous or is it something more?
Maybe it really doesn’t have to do with the other person. Maybe it really comes down to how we feel about ourselves. Could it be a self loathing that keeps us from the simplest exchange of hello?
I know for me when I am not feeling too proud of my life choices I begin to withdraw and hide. I don’t want anyone to discover my flaws. When I become conscious of this behavior, I know it is time for me to take a personal assessment of my life and determine what it is I need to change so I once again like the person I see in the mirror. I realize that it is time to stop beating myself up and start learning from the journey that brought me to this not so good feeling place.
What do you think about this topic? Are you one of the people who are guilty of not acknowledging others? If so what is it that keeps you from offering this small token? Maybe you are one of the people, like me, who naturally offers a hello or greeting to anyone you meet. Do you experience the same rebuff? If so, why do you think this is happening?
Feel free to post your thoughts or comments on this blog or send me an email thespadiva@lisafredette.com with your opinion on this topic. I would love to start a dialogue about this and see what it is all about. Have a great day!
Do you know how much revenue is lost each year by American businesses due to stressed out employees? 300 billion dollars annually - hard to believe isn’t it? I know I was shocked when I read this statistic. Are you wondering how stress can cost companies so much money? Well, stressed out employees are absent from work more often (in fact it is estimated that one million workers are absent every day), have reduced productivity and tend to file more workers compensation claims.
Is stress affecting your employees? Unfortunately, stress will always be present in our work and personal lives, but we don’t have to allow it to control our lives and affect our health. By taking only 15 to 30 minutes a week to relax and de-stress you will see your stress level reduced and your productivity increase. You may be saying to yourself - how am I going to find 15-30 minutes a week to de-stress. Maybe some additional facts about stress will encourage you to find the time.
Did you know that in America:

- 75-90% of all doctor visits are for stress-related ailments & complaints
- Stress is linked to the leading causes of death, including: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver due to alcoholism & suicide
- More than 1/3 of deaths between the ages of 18 & 65 result from stressful lifestyles
- Stress leads to the breakdown in the immune system, which makes people especially susceptible to arthritis, fibromyalgia & a host of other diseases & sicknesses, including the common cold & the flu
- Over 8 billion dollars is spent annually on anti-depressants & anxiety medications

For the past few days I have been talking about the importance of obtaining a personalized skincare regimen and have recommended completing BeautiControl’s Online Skin E-profile as your source of personalized skin regimen. Now you may be thinking that I am a bit biased because I am a BeautiControl Representative and would say our products are good because of this, however you don’t have to take my word for it, Good Housekeeping recommended BeautiControl’s Microderm Abrasion. Here is a piece from the article:
“Microdermabrasion, an in-office exfoliating treatment, will restore your glow, but given the price - around $900 for the recommended six sessions - we wondered: Can at-home microdermabrasion creams and kits do the job? For two weeks, our testers used a product on just half of their face. Then Robyn Gmyrek, M.D., an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Columbia University, in New York City, compared the before-and-after results for the six products tested. At $50, BeautiControl Microderm Abrasion Facial Buffering Creme (a cream and buffer tool) boosted radiance and decreased the appearance of large pores.”You can read the rest of the article here http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/product-testing/reviews-tests/health-beauty/4-skin-savers-0204
Once you complete the Online Skin Care E-Profile you will see the Microderm Abrasion listed as one of the key steps in your skin care regimen. Microderm Abrasion accelerates the turn-over of skin cells. This is important because as we age the turn-over of skin cells changes from an average of every 30 days (when we were in our 20’s) to every 45-60 days. A good skin care regimen always wants to encourage the production of new skin cells so our skin looks younger and healthier.
But don’t forget - there are other key skin care products that need to go along with this process. So be sure to add them to your tool box so you not only increase the turn-over of skin cells but make sure that you are producing healthy and undamaged skin cells to uncover.
That is why I feel it is so important to get a step by step Skin Care Regimen so you know that you are using the right products, in the right order for the right reasons. So if you are ready to begin taking care of your skin and reduce or even reverse the signs of aging then complete the BeautiControl Online Skin Care E-Profile today and get started. Need help with the profile or have questions about it feel free to contact mewith your questions.

Did you complete the Online Skincare E-Profile and receive your personalized skin care regimen?
No? Is it possible that you are having the following conversation with yourself:
“Why do I need a personalized skin care regimen? Aren’t all skin care products the same? My skin looks pretty good right now I don’t need to worry about a skin care regimen.”
I had that same conversation with myself many times, until I found BeautiControl and realized that the answer to all of those questions is no. What I learned was that each age group, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s plus have different needs and issues that need to be addressed by a specific skincare regimen. What else I learned is that no matter how good the skin I can see looks, the skin lurking underneath doesn’t look as fabulous, after all I was a teenager of the 80’s you know when sunbathing on the silver mat on the roof top with baby oil was all the rage. Unbeknownst to me I was damaging my future skin cells and inevitably I will end up with those dreaded age spots and wrinkles, if I don’t do something about it, ugh!
The final straw was when I got a look at what your skin looks like under ultraviolet light – wow I was shocked into sitting up and paying attention.
So I got real busy learning all I could about BeautiControl’s unique skin care regimen. Our skin care is specifically designed for the age of your skin, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s plus. You know as well as I do that the problems you were having in your 20’s – acne and oil, is not the same as you are now having in your 30’s or 40’s – slight wrinkles around your eyes and mouth, loss of vibrancy, right? Or in your 50’s or older where the skin is beginning to sag and become translucent. So BeautiControl has designed their skincare to match the specific issues your skin is facing at your specific age.
As I mentioned earlier, it is important to take care of not only the skin you can see, which may look great now, but the skin we can’t seek where all the damage may be lurking. BeautiControl once again steps up to the plate with awesome products to address all the problems women face when it comes to their skin. They do so with our MRP system – maintenance (for the skin you can see), repair (for the skin you can’t see) and protection (reduce future damage).
You might be saying to your self – this sounds way too complicated. Trust me it is not. All you need to do is complete BeautiControl’s online skin care e-profile and you will receive a step by step guide on what products you need to use and when to use them for your specific skin care issues/needs. That simple!
Start taking the steps toward taking care of your skin, reduce the signs of aging and protect it from future damage – complete the online skin care e-profile and get started today! Here is to you being Fabulous!

I remember when I was first introduced to BeautiControl - one of my good friends sent me a post card inviting me to a Spa Day.
I called her up and said - what is this exactly? She said that it was a party that she and her sister were hosting for a BeautiControl consultant. You get pampered and are able to relax - I thought can’t beat that, so I said yes I would be there.
My intention was to go have fun, listen to the BeautiControl representatives sales pitch and then buy that “token” item so I didn’t feel like a loser when I left the party. Well, it didn’t turn out that way.
I was so intrigued by the company, the opportunity and the products rather than buying the “token” item I signed up to be a consultant. When I went home and told my daughter she said to me “Mom, this is so not you”. And she was right - you’ll see why in a moment.
When I got my Beauti Bag in the mail a few days later I was perplexed - okay now what. The bag had my skin care regimen and some spa products. Okay, I thought I know how to use the spa products that is easy enough - who can’t figure out how to pamper themselves, right?
Now mind you I was not a Beauty Regimen person, I was raised on Noxzema and a bar of soap. Skincare - what is that? I thought, what goes on first, what’s next, etc. I am a step by step direction person, I need a system. I am not someone who just tries something randomly, if it isn’t in a cook book I don’t make it, get what I am saying?
So you can imagine how excited I was when BeautiControl came out with the Online Skincare E-Profile. Now this is right up my alley! I click on the e-profile form and answer some questions about my skin and wala I have a step by step skincare regimen. How awesome!
Obviously, since then I have learned a great deal about the importance of skincare maintenance, repair and preventation because of the awesome support of BeautiControl training, but I have to admit I was at a loss when I first signed on.
You too may be feeling overwhelmed by all the information out there on skincare and anti-aging products. If you are like me and need a step by step guide on what is right for your particular skin care needs then you will definitely want to try out the Online Skin Care E-Profile offered by BeautiControl. Don’t worry there is no cost - but once you get the answers, like I did, you won’t be able to get started soon enough on your skincare regi
